When starting this blog, I wanted to research smaller companies. I wanted to find more brands that I hadn’t heard of and dig into how and what they make.
Listed are four brands who are all based and manufacture in the UK. As time progresses, it would be a pleasure to be able to interview each company and get a more in-depth look into their businesses.
For now, here is a short introduction into each of the four brands that I think you should know about.
Restrap makes quality bags that are all manufactured in-house from their base in Leeds. They are currently celebrating their 10 Year anniversary which shows in the quality of the products they produce. They have a full range of carry goods from everything for the bike, to backpacks, pedal straps and much more. Sign up to their newsletter (link) and receive 10% off your first order.
I first discovered Mack Workshop at the Bespoked Bike Show (link) a couple of years ago, close to where they come from. They produce pleasing bike packing bags as well as various size pouches for all your accessories and some great looking saddlebags. They can also do custom work on almost anything in a great range of colours. Definitely worth a look.
Carradice is the granddaddy of bicycle bags. They have been producing bags in Lancashire since 1932; they must be doing something right! They have a very classic look to most of their bags and produce everything from pannier bags, saddlebags, rucksacks, handlebar bags and much more all with a great guarantee.
Straight Cut Designs
Straight Cut is a company from Edinburgh a friend recently introduced me to. They offer a few stock products including a saddlebag, top tube bag and a tool roll but mainly focus on custom frame bags. These custom bags have stylish looking features to fit all shapes and sizes. Have a look at their slick website for great ideas. You will not be disappointed by their customer service or the ordering system either!
