Brooks have been making bike saddles since 1866 and have been making bags in some shape or form since those early days, so I guess they know a thing or two about manufacturing. Brooks have around 50 different types of bags in their current range, from backpacks, totes, saddles bags, panniers, tool bags, holdalls, shoulder bags and more and the range is always changing. I have a Dalston Knapsack which I have had for a few years now which I will review at a later date. For now, we are taking a look at a newer model, the Pitfield Backpack.

The Pitfield is a commuter style everyday backpack with an expandable volume of 24 to 28 litres. This stylish backpack come in just one colour – black. Made from durable and waterproof material it’s ideal for day to day use.
The outer fabric is a waterproof coated PU nylon 66 and Cordura mix, the lining is made from 100% recycled material and is zipped up with YKK Aquaguard to keep the water out. Hardware is made from aluminium and it has a reflective strip at the bottom of the bag to keep you safe at night.

Inside there is a padded laptop compartment. The zipped front pocket is stretchy for storing your helmet and larger items. It has a handy small pocket on the top flap for storing wallet, sunglasses or keys. Also, on the side is a zipped stretchy pocket for water bottle storage.
Comfort – the ergonomic straps give great support and give plenty of adjustabilities to secure the pack, the padded back make the bag very comfortable.
This is a great bag for the daily commute if you are carrying lots of items, you can easily fit your lunch and a change of clothes for the office or gym. Due to its stylish, smart design, it won’t look out of place once you reach the office and would be great for a weekend away. It probably too big if you’re just carrying a laptop and a few other bits, you could go for the similar smaller size Sparkhill which come in 2 sizes.
Also have a look at the Mission Workshop Sanction backpack, which is similar but slightly smaller and less bulky.
Well designed, sturdy bag.
Lots of good storage.
Great all-round bag for commuting, office use or a weekend away.
Not cheap, but you are paying for a quality bag.
Nowhere to attach a bike light
